According to reports monitored by Valid9ja from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the electoral body urged Nigerians who have yet to register, transfer their registration, or update their personal information to complete the process before the registration window closes. The commission stressed that the exercise ends on Sunday, July 26, with registration centres operating from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
INEC also encouraged prospective voters to use its online registration portal to complete eligible services or visit any designated registration centre for physical assistance. The commission warned that those who fail to register before the deadline may be unable to participate in future elections until another registration exercise is announced.
The commission reiterated its message in a public notice, urging citizens not to delay. It stated that the CVR exercise provides opportunities for first-time registration, transfer of voter registration, replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and correction of personal details.

Valid9ja gathered from INEC that the registration exercise forms part of preparations for the 2027 general elections. Eligible Nigerians who recently turned 18, changed their residence, or need to update their records were advised to complete the process before the deadline.
Meanwhile, the commission has ruled out extending the registration period despite appeals from some opposition political parties and civil society organisations. INEC maintained that the closing date had been announced well in advance and would remain unchanged.
Information obtained by Valid9ja from INEC shows that registration centres nationwide are expected to remain open between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on the final day of the exercise. The commission advised applicants requiring physical assistance to visit the nearest INEC state office, local government office or designated registration centre.
The electoral body also reminded Nigerians that voter information can be updated through the CVR portal, including requests for corrections to names, dates of birth, gender, transfer of polling units and replacement of damaged or lost PVCs. Existing registered voters were urged to ensure that their records are accurate before the registration exercise ends.
Political observers have described the CVR exercise as an important step towards broadening voter participation ahead of the next general election. The final number of newly registered voters is expected to be announced by the commission after the exercise concludes and the register is compiled.
