A High Court in Abuja has granted bail to former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, in the sum of N100 million following legal proceedings against him.

According to the reports, The court ruled that the former governor must meet certain conditions before enjoying the bail. These conditions reportedly include providing reliable sureties and submitting relevant travel documents to the court.

El-Rufai appeared before the court over allegations linked to actions taken during his time as governor of Kaduna State. Although details of the charges were discussed during the hearing, the former governor denied any wrongdoing through his legal team.

The case has drawn attention across Nigeria because of El-Rufai’s strong influence in national politics. He served as Kaduna governor for two terms and was also a former minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Over the years, he has remained one of the country’s most outspoken political figures.

During the court session, lawyers representing El-Rufai argued that he would not interfere with investigations or avoid trial if granted bail. The prosecution, however, requested strict conditions from the court.

After listening to both sides, the judge approved the bail request and adjourned the matter to a later date for continuation of the case. Political observers say the development may continue to generate reactions from supporters and critics of the former governor as the legal battle moves forward. The court is expected to resume hearing on the matter in the coming weeks.
