Yoruba nation activist, Dr Sunday Igboho, has said his proposed security group, Iru Ekun Security Network, is ready to help tackle rising insecurity in the South West region of Nigeria. According to him, the outfit is currently waiting for approval from the Federal Government before it can begin full operations.

Dr Sunday Igboho explained that the main goal of the security network is to remove criminals hiding inside forests across the South West. He said many communities have continued to suffer attacks from kidnappers and other armed groups, creating fear among residents and farmers.

The activist added that his organisation is prepared to work closely with official security agencies, including the police and other law enforcement bodies. He promised that the group would follow all legal guidelines put in place by the government.

As part of this commitment, Sunday Igboho said the security outfit would obey the Executive Order introduced by the Oyo State Government to regulate private security organisations operating within the state.

Sunday Igboho became widely known in recent years for his strong calls against insecurity in Yoruba communities and his support for self-determination movements. His activities have often sparked debates across the country, with supporters praising his efforts to protect local communities while critics question some of his methods.

The latest move is expected to generate further discussion about community policing and regional security in Nigeria.
